10 years ago I was looking at the rancillio but they were 300 bucks back then, now 1000, for what looks like the same machine so I'm a bit lost where to look next.Easily make aromatic coffee varieties like Espresso, Coffee, Cappuccino and Latte Macchiato at the touch of a button. at least heat and shot timer, so it's a bit more wife friendly. Anyone up to date on the latest (been 10-15 years since I've been looking) semi auto espresso machines that can recommend what to look at? Not looking for anything super manual. I have a high end macap grinder that I can't bare to part with. not issues but just drawbacks, are shared between both machines because of the style of the machine. I would go with the Delonghi if you're deciding between these two specifically. You'll get a bunch of anecdotal stories one way or the other but I've recently done a look over all the reviews of a bunch of super autos and the Philips has a few issues with the design in the water compartment. Which one is better quality Philips or DeLonghi Dinamica? Wroom wrote: ↑ DeLonghi Dinamica is the same price at the Bay right now. It was eventually dropped off at Anthony's Espresso in Vaughan and they took care of it in a week or so. Philips sent me an entire new brew group but it still didn't fix the issue. I tried absolutely everything I could find on Youtube to no avail. We had an issue a few months in to ownership, something (pardon me, I forget the exact issue) was blocked inside that was not part of routine maintenance. Yes, you can manually pull a better shot with a different machine but I'm not willing to spend the time in the morning when I can barely see straight after getting up from bed. On top of that, I have Cafiza pills from Amazon that I'll use about once a month.Īgain, speaking about the 3100 specifically, very happy with the quality of coffee/cappuccino. The cleaning isn't a terribly big deal, I just use bulk citric acid powder (1/4 cup) dissolved in water. I'd say we're heavy users, ~6 cups a day consistently. Only difference being the machine seems to ask for a cleaning cycle more frequently (prompt comes up about once every four weeks) I've had a Philips 3100 (I suspect its the exact same brew group) for a year now and haven't used a filter since the first one ran its course. We have a different fully automatic machine, but were told early on that the water filter on ours was not necessary for the water we have locally (SW Ontario) as it will detract from the flavor.
